Sports Massage

Sports massage like Holistic massage is based on Swedish massage but includes a range of more advanced techniques to tackle soft tissue injuries. These techniques allow the therapist to assist in making the recovery from injury and rehabilitation speedier and as full as possible.

They include many methods of stretching and working on damaged muscles, tendons and ligaments. Sports massage also includes providing guidance on self help between sessions to assist the recovery and shorten the rehabilitation period.

Although aimed at sports injuries these techniques are just as useful in tackling soft tissue injuries however caused. Many people have injuries that are caused at work, in the home or taking part in hobbies, for example dancing.

For the techniques to be effective it is important that they are used as soon as is safe and practical after the injury. Preventing swelling and controlling the treatment of injuries from the very early stages provides the best chance of limiting damage and of making a speedy and full recovery.
